By building a SAN utilizing existing Ethernet infrastructure, the LeftHand SAN eliminates the learning curve, expensive fibre channel components, and complexity associated with fibre channel SANs. LeftHand’s next-generation network distributed virtualization technology -- the intelligence behind the SAN -- pools the total storage capacity, centralizing the management of all the storage modules through one intuitive GUI interface. While sophisticated in design, this network distributed virtualization technique greatly simplifies the user experience. An unlimited number of storage modules can be clustered together and managed as one pool, and additional storage can be added to the cluster with no downtime. Because of the unique distributed systems architecture, performance scales up as storage capacity is added to the pool.

This broad range of benefits is achieved by leveraging a full set of SAN services including centralized storage management, non-disruptive scalability, automated failover, local and remote replication, snapshot, and automated data migration. LeftHand's Remote IP Copy application is the only native IP-based distance replication technology that supports both the high availability and site redundancy necessary to fully address business continuity, disaster recovery, and off-site backup.
